To date, Vietnam has joined and is implementing 16 Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and continues to open bilateral FTA negotiations with Israel and Canada.
Basically, Vietnam has signed FTAs with all major export markets for agriculture, forestry and fishery products. This is an important factor that helps companies to have a competitive advantage in the world. The signing and implementation of FTAs have created great opportunities for the export of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products.
In 2022, against the backdrop of a changing world and suffering from the effects of climate change, Vietnam’s exports of agricultural, forestry and fishery products continue to reach a record high of $53.22 billion, up 9.5% year-on-year. Currently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has developed a draft strategy for international cooperation in the agriculture and rural development sector to 2030.
The strategy lists three main groups of tasks and solutions, including: proactive integration into the international community to bring out the best of Vietnam’s agriculture; strengthening partnerships to build a better image about Vietnam’s agriculture, farmers, and countryside; and optimizing the mobilization and use of external resources for Vietnam’s agriculture and rural development sector.
