The clear direction of agricultural development in Hanoi, Vietnam is to follow the path of organic production, which is the inevitable trend of going for environmentally friendly and sustainable agriculture. At present, many organic agricultural production models in Hanoi have worked and their products have gained a firm foothold in the market.
This is an important prerequisite for Hanoi’s agriculture and opens up new opportunities for Hanoi’s organic agricultural products to be exported to Europe.
Tran Ngoc Thanh, vice chairman of the Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association, said that Vietnam’s organic farming production activities have shown strong momentum in the three years since the implementation of the organic farming proposal. Each year, Vietnam’s organic agricultural exports can exceed 335 million USD and have been sold to more than 180 countries and regions around the world, with Europe being the main import market for Vietnamese organic food.
In order to let European consumers know about Vietnamese organic agricultural products, the Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association organized Vietnamese enterprises to participate in the 2023 BIOFACH in Nuremberg, Bavaria, southern Germany, from February 14 to 17. The exhibition attracted more than 2,500 exhibitors from 100 countries in the world, among which 10 Vietnamese enterprises participated.
The Vietnam News Agency in Germany reported that during the fair, the Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association, the Hanoi New Rural Development Program Coordination Office and the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany jointly held a business matching session entitled “Vietnam Organic”.
Mr. Tran Ngoc Thanh also revealed that this is the sixth consecutive time for Vietnamese enterprises to participate in the German Organic Food Fair in Nuremberg, aiming to share business opportunities, find partners and penetrate into the world organic food market.
Do Viet Hoa, representative of Vietnam Commercial Office in Germany, shared information about the German market to Vietnamese enterprises. Germany is the second largest organic market in the world. European consumers, especially German consumers, are very concerned about products that are good for their health and their consumption trend of organic products is increasing.
It was learned that Vietnamese enterprises displayed a wider variety of agricultural products at this year’s fair, such as: pepper, cashew nuts, coffee, coconut meat, organic rice flour, organic tea, etc. Trade matching sessions for Vietnamese enterprises also attracted enterprises from Germany, Peru, Turkey, the Netherlands, Spain and other countries, and achieved good results, which is expected to bring more opportunities for Vietnamese organic agricultural products.
With the sales and development trend of organic products and the advantages brought by the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement, the export potential and opportunities for Vietnamese organic agricultural products are increasing. Vietnamese enterprises need to make full use of all the opportunities and work to expand the export market for Vietnamese organic products.
