India’s summer grain production is expected to reach a record

New Delhi, September 22: according to the report released by the Ministry of agriculture and farmers’ welfare of India, the output of summer sown grain in India will reach a record 150.5 million tons in 2021 / 22 (July to June), compared with 149.56 million tons in the previous year.

According to the Ministry of agriculture and farmer welfare of India, the output of summer sown rice in India is expected to reach a record 107.04 million tons in 2021 / 22, higher than 104.41 million tons in 2020 / 21.

India may account for 45% of global rice exports in 2021 because of the expansion of port processing capacity, allowing India to export record rice to Africa and Asia. India is the world’s largest rice exporter and the second largest rice producer after China.

India may harvest 21.24 million tons of corn, the same as last year. However, oilseed production is expected to fall to 23.4 million tons, down from 24 million tons last year.

Peanut production is expected to be 8.2 million tons, compared with 8.5 million tons last year. Soybean production is expected to be 12.7 million tons, down from 12.9 million tons last year.

The reduction of oilseed production will lead India to rely more on vegetable oil imports. India is the world’s largest importer of edible oil, spending $8 to $10 billion a year to import edible oil.
