The Indian government has lifted export restrictions on organic non-basmati broken rice, Indian media reported last week. India, the world’s largest rice exporter, banned exports of broken rice on Sept. 8 and imposed a 20 percent export tariff on all grades of rice after below-average monsoon rains limited rice cultivation, prompting the government to take steps to boost domestic supplies and curb domestic prices.
