Grenada’s cocoa industry began to recover

The Grenada Voice reported on September 10 that according to the mid-2021 economic review and annual outlook report of Grenada’s Ministry of finance, in the first half of 2021, Georgia’s cocoa production reached 1.3 million pounds, a year-on-year increase of 35.3%, the highest level in the same period since 2016, reflecting the recovery of the cocoa industry after Hurricane Ivan. GCA believes that thanks to favorable weather conditions and rising cocoa prices, GCA’s cocoa production has been increasing steadily, and calls on the government to introduce effective land use policies to protect high-quality agricultural land.
