World sunflower seed production in 2022/23 is forecast at 53.4 million tons, despite downward revisions in EU production, offset by upward revisions in Russia and Ukraine, according to data from Hamburg, Germany-based analyst Oil World.
Oil World forecasts that global sunflower oil exports will increase in the third quarter of 2022, between July and September, with the largest increases in Russia, Ukraine and Bulgaria. exports will increase further in 2022/23.
Turkey is now becoming a major trading center for sunflower seeds and products. Sunflower oil exports during May to July this year increased by 43% year-on-year due to higher domestic processing of imported sunflower seeds.
