Paris, February 10: the French Ministry of Agriculture released a report on Thursday, reducing the estimated sowing area of winter soft wheat harvested in 2022 to 4.745 million hectares, lower than the 4.924 million hectares predicted in December, 4.3% lower than the 4.956 million hectares sown in 2021 and 1.0% lower than the historical average.
In 2022, the sown area of winter barley in France was increased to 1252000 hectares, higher than the previously predicted 1226000 hectares, an increase of 4.6% over the 1197000 hectares in 2021, but 1.6% lower than the historical average.
In 2022, the winter rapeseed area in France was raised to 1157000 hectares, higher than the predicted 1102000 hectares in December, an increase of 18.0% over the sown area of 981000 hectares in 2021, but still 6.9% lower than the historical average.
The total area of winter grain in France in 2022 was 6.702 million hectares, lower than the 6.848 million hectares predicted in December, 2.5% lower than the 6.876 million hectares in 2021, but 0.6% higher than the historical average.
