The Croatian Morning Post reported on April 7 that although Croatian domestic vegetable and fruit producers have received a lot of funds from EU funds, fruit and vegetable production has decreased year by year in recent years. The latest data of 2021 released by the Croatian Bureau of statistics shows that the production of fruits and vegetables decreased significantly last year. Affected by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and the rising prices of inputs such as energy and fertilizer, experts are more pessimistic about the harvest forecast in 2022. Overall, the self-sufficiency rate of gram vegetable production is 65% and that of fruit is 50%.
