Argentine government approves planting drought resistant transgenic wheat

Argentina’s national newspaper reported on May 12 that the Argentine Ministry of agriculture, animal husbandry and Fisheries issued Resolution No. 27 approving the planting and sale of hb4 transgenic wheat varieties developed by bioceres in Argentina. The hb4 gene was first discovered in sunflowers by Raquel Chan, a member of the national science and Technology Research Commission and a professor of the national Binhai University, which can make transgenic wheat still obtain high yield under drought conditions.
