Foreign media reported on January 18: the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange (bage) released a report on Tuesday that Argentina’s wheat production reached a record 21.8 million tons in 2021 / 22, exceeding the previous record of 19 million tons in 2018 / 19.
The exchange said that the wheat harvest had ended this month, and the yield was 2.8 million tons higher than the initial expected value, which was due to rainfall. Although the rainfall was less, it was evenly distributed and timely, which helped to improve the wheat yield. The national average yield per hectare was 3.44 tons, an increase of 21.9% over the previous year and 11.5% over the average yield in the past five years.
The exchange said that this year’s wheat harvest will bring us $4.5 billion in export revenue and US $1.45 billion in taxes. Considering the good performance in recent years, the wheat industry should continue to maintain its growth momentum.
