Argentina’s four major crop associations unite to call on the government to change the agricultural economic development model

Argentina’s “Horn” website reported on November 30, recently, Argentina’s four major crop associations of soybeans, corn, wheat and sunflowers questioned the current economic situation and the industrial policy of Argentina, and pointed out that in the face of macroeconomic instability, high inflation, the exchange rate gap continues to widen, the lack of foreign exchange reserves, tax policy distortions, the lack of free trade agreements and other issues, the government failed to introduce effective measures to respond. The meeting concluded that the four major crops will generate $40 billion in exports in 2021 and will grow even more if they are continuously nurtured and guided by effective policies. The four associations jointly called on the government to reduce export taxes, amend the seed law, develop biofuels, regulate the use of pesticides, strengthen agricultural insurance and other policy improvements, and to achieve sustainable development of the agricultural economy by enhancing the added value of agricultural products and improving the competitiveness of the country’s agriculture.
